Your gutter system works hand in hand with your roofing system. When your gutters are functioning optimally, water is properly channeled from the roof to the gutter, down the downspouts, and away from the home. This helps protect your homes from water damage.
When your gutter system loses integrity, many problems can occur including leaks, improper draining, water spillover, mosquito breeding, ice damming, and more. When problems occur, sometimes it's best to repair the gutters. Repair services include: cleaning out gutters, adjusting the height of the downspouts, cleaning out downspouts, resealing corners, and adding support anchors.
Gutters come in two sizes: 5" & 6". Back in the good old days, 5" gutters were considered "good enough". They were installed on many homes and are still being installed on homes today. They usually bring with them problems (due to their small size) like clogging, overfilling, and not being able to carry all of the water that comes down during heavy rain. This is why we only install 6" gutters.
*Also, the price difference between 5" & 6" gutters is minuscule, so the choice is an easy one.
